January 27 – February 26 My Fair Lady is based upon George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion. The story concerns Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons from Professor Henry Higgins, a phoneticist, so she can pass as a lady. Musical numbers include “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?,” “I’m Getting Married In The Morning,” “The Rain in Spain,” “I’ve Grown Accustomed To Her Face” and “I Could Have Danced All Night.” Described as "the perfect musical,” this show received the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1956. |
