Greetings
and salutations. This is a communication from the
North Coast Repertory Theatre in an attempt
to solicit a donation of ten lousy bucks. That’s
right, I said ten lousy bucks.
You are probably saying to yourself: “What?! Again?? Didn’t I just
send money for a season ticket? Weren’t they just asking me to buy a
new toilet or something for disabled persons accessibility? What’s with
this theatre—what do they need now? A new doorknob?”
Well, actually we have all the door knobs and toilets we can use for a while…as
well as paper towels and soap. Toilet paper, I’m not so sure of…..
There are, however, lots of things we can use ten lousy bucks for. You know…things
like lumber and screws and other building stuff...and office stuff like paper.
Then there’s lights, gas, the mortgage and an amount we still owe for
the recent renovations such as the wheel chair ramp and the new accessible
bathroom. You know what I mean.
Seriously though, for the cost of about three cups of coffee at Starbucks,
a dinner at Hometown Buffet, or a movie ticket at the cinema, you can keep
the doors open at NCRT. And with the fabulous musical “The Producers” coming
up, that’s something you want to do. Chances are, if you do put that
ten dollars in an envelope and mail it today—you
won’t even miss it by tomorrow.
We greatly appreciate your generosity during the last 25 years and the opportunity
you’ve given us to entertain you. And we do hope to be here for 25
more (with your help).
So all we ask you is to think about it…after all…it’s only
ten lousy bucks (although we wouldn’t mind if you send more to cover
for someone else who won’t respond to this letter).
On behalf of the North Coast Repertory Theatre, thank you so much!
Sincerely,
Marcia Hutson
President, Board of Directors
